Board of Directors Introduction

Hello, from your Board of Directors!

The Armenian Sacred Music Project would like to introduce you to our newly elected Board of Directors! As we continue our process to achieve 501(c)3 status with the IRS, we’d like to proudly announce our new board of directors that will be covering all of your organization’s initiatives. Workshops, masterclasses, trainings, and publications are in the works for Q2-2022. We invite you to please visit our website and check your email inbox for upcoming news on all our activities. 

Sevag Derderian has served as a music director, educator, and guest lecturer for the Western & Eastern Dioceses of the Armenian Church of North America, Association of Armenian Church Choirs of the Western Diocese (AACCWD), Sacred Music Council, and California State University Los Angeles. During his tenure as chairman for the AACCWD, he established the first Christian Education Council (Sunday school) music curriculum for the Western Diocese,  travelled over 25k miles to continue the teachings and doctrines of the Armenian Apostolic Church, and produced numerous print and digital publications. Derderian now serves as Founder and President of the Armenian Sacred Music Project.

Sharon Giragosian has humbly served private and public organizations, non-profit organizations, and continues to serve her community.   Born into the Yetenekian family, whose lengthy history of service has served the Armenian Apostolic Church and Armenian-American organizations, she continues to serve and volunteer like those of her family past and present. In her capacity as legal marketing manager and director to the private sector, she travelled and established offices to ensure communities have adequate legal representation and access to essential counsel. In her Armenian community efforts, Giragosian has served as chair of the board of directors for St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church (Pasadena, CA), director of the Armenian Festival (Burbank, CA), and volunteer for the pontifical visits of H.H. Karekin II Catholicos (Burbank, CA). Through her vast experience, Shoghig joins the Armenian Sacred Music Project as Executive Director. 

Carolyn DePalma is an experienced community activist, technical writer, project manager, and volunteer with over 30 years of work experience. She has served in local political organizations, and campaigns, in both lead, and volunteer positions, which has led to further extensive community, educational, and civil organizations. She has a penchant passion for literary works, being an English major herself, and a hearty appetite for political and educational activism. She enjoys her own diverse cultural background and the further understanding of the many ethnicities that make up this great social fabric within the United States. She joins as Secretary to the Armenian Sacred Music Project.

Paulin McClain is a public policy analyst and has over seven years of legal experience. She earned her Master’s Degree from Pepperdine University in Public Policy and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. McClain serves multiple roles at California State University,Northridge including membership in the Young Alumni Task Force Committee, Alumni Scholarship Committee, and soon, as an Alumni Board Member. She grew up as a first-generation American college student with Armenian-Iranian roots. As such, she enjoys paying it forward through her continual mentorship. She relishes historical preservation and culture, especially as a means to learn from and improve. She joins as Treasurer to the Armenian Sacred Music Project.
